Happy Birthday Dad!

Another year older and another year wiser they say. I am starting to feel the older but don't know that I am making any gains on the wiser part (seems like Anna and Cece are in the lead here...at least according to them).

My birthday was quite a special day for many reasons but one in particular is the cake you see pictured here. Anna saw a picture in a magazine at Mom's months ago that showed a birthday cake with a football field. She asked Patty if they could make that cake for my birthday since "dad would really like it" and has talked for weeks about making me a special cake. Patty, Anna and Cece woke early (nothing unusual here) and set to work on making the cake. The girls worked hard on the mixing and baking. After completing a frantic search for football field materials, Patty placed the cake on her mother's cake dish (yes John...one more Cronley item that Patty got to before you) and iced it only to have Anna complain that it wasn't like the one in the magazine. She said it needed people so she and Cece added their Little People figurines. If you look closely you'll see two girls and a boy (one representing each of the kids). After that, all agreed it was perfect.

We all enjoyed the cake later that evening and it was fabulous. The girls are definitely going to have to continue this newfound ability. Fortunately we have plenty of birthdays in the house yet to come this year.
